Review of Cattle Drive Gold Chili

A review of Cattle Drive Gold Chili with some suggestions on ways to use it.

I have recently discovered Cattle Drive Gold Chili and I love it. In fact I have stopped making my own chili. This is a really hearty thick chili with just the right amount of zing to it. I do not find it too spicy nor too bland. I am not a big fan of a lot of beans either so I was impressed that it was not loaded down with more beans than anything else as is the case in some other canned chili.

The thickness of the chili makes it perfect for chili dogs. It stays mounded up on the hot dog and doesn’t run all over your plate and hands. Throw a little shredded cheese and onions on that dog and you really have something to howl about!

Sometimes I do want a soupier chili to serve to my guests with a sandwich on the side so I modify it a bit. For every two cans of chili I add one can of chopped canned tomatoes and one can of water. I sometimes will add additional chunks of sweet pepper and I have even been known to dice up a potato into the mix. The richness of the Cattle Drive Gold Chili stands up well to the dilution. It still tastes fantastic.

Serve it over pasta add some cheese and sour cream for some Cincinnati style chili.

Oh, and by the way, it tastes great just as it is. Just open the can, dump it in a bowl and nuke it.

Cattle Drive Gold Chili has become a staple in my cupboards because I can truly whip up a simple and delicious dinner at the drop of a hat when I need to. I buy it a case at a time.

Nice review Judith but I prefer making my own chili from scratch. I really prefer the super hot, ten alarm, Texas style chili.

Yummm - sounds delicious definitely. I still like to make my own too. Especially in the winter. I think you should post your recipe! Yes? A great article on Texas style chili? :)

I've been eating this for several years and I LOVE IT!!! My wife makes me chili omelets with it. I used to buy it at Costco but unfortunately, like everything else I start liking there, they don't sell it anymore :(. I still enjoy making my own chili once in a while too!

Like what you wrote here, good job

I love the chicken chili but can't find it anywhere local. I was getting it at cosco but they don't always carry it. I live in San Luis Obispo county in

California. Is there another store that ai can purchase it? Can I buy it

direct from your com? Thank You.

No Betty, I don't have a .com where you can purchase it directly. I would suggest going to the Hanover Foods website http://www.hanoverfoods.com/ to see if they can hook you up with some. They are the distrubutor listed on the label.

but they are an hour from where I live and then they don't have it in

I am just reviewing the product because I use it and like it. I have no connection with the company. I just looked at the can and saw that the distributor is Hanover Foods, Inc. I do not know any way for you to get it other than to contact the distributor to see if they can help you find a place to get it or perhaps they can send it to you directly. Sorry I can't be of more help Betty but I really don't know anything about the company directly.
